Eco-Friendly Practices & Sustainability
How do you approach sustainability at Bubble on the Beach?
Sustainability is fundamental to our existence, not an afterthought. We operate completely off-grid, powered by solar energy, and focus on water conservation, waste reduction, and supporting local ecosystems and communities.
What are your waste management practices?
We follow a comprehensive approach to waste:
- Composting organic material for our gardens
- Minimising single-use items
- Recycling where facilities exist
- Upcycling materials where possible
- Teaching guests about low-impact practices
Do you source locally?
Absolutely. From the materials used in our buildings to the food in our kitchen, we prioritise local sourcing. This reduces our carbon footprint, supports the local economy, and provides guests with authentic Moroccan experiences.
How do you contribute to the local environment?
We actively participate in plastic waste reduction, recycling initiatives, dune stabilization, native plant restoration, and beach clean-ups. Our efforts help maintain the pristine nature of our coastal location. Additionally, our Four-Legged Orphan Sanctuary provides refuge for local animals in need.
What is your Four-Legged Orphan Sanctuary?
Over the years, various four-legged waifs and strays have found their way to our Bubble, and we've established a small animal sanctuary within the grounds. 10% of all accommodation bookings directly support the sanctuary. If you have room in your suitcase for any unwanted dog collars, leads, toys, bowls, or bedding, they would be very gratefully received!

What types of rooms do you offer?
We offer a variety of characterful accommodations across two categories:
- Main House Collection: Integrated within our central building, including double mini-suites, large double rooms, and spacious suites with varying capacities from 2-7 guests
- Private Sanctuaries: Standalone structures for enhanced privacy, including our romantic tower (Le Chateau) and garden rooms
Each space has its own distinct personality while sharing our commitment to authentic Moroccan craftsmanship.

These features, combined with our coastal breezes, keep spaces comfortable throughout the year.
What amenities are provided in the rooms?
All rooms include:

Off-Grid Technology & Amenities
What does "off-grid" mean for my stay?
Our electricity is generated by the sun. While sunshine is generally plentiful in Morocco, we have to take every precaution to keep electricity consumption to a minimum. This creates a more mindful, authentic experience that most guests come to appreciate.
Do rooms have refrigerators, hairdryers, or tea/coffee facilities?
Due to our sustainable approach, we are unable to provide fridges, hairdryers, and tea/coffee-making facilities in the rooms. However, early morning tea in your room can be arranged, and low-wattage hairdryers are available upon request!
Is there reliable electricity?
Yes, our solar power system with battery storage provides reliable electricity for lighting, charging devices, and essential services. During extended periods of cloudy weather (rare in our region), we have backup systems in place.
What if I need to charge electronic devices?
Charging stations are available in common areas for phones, cameras, and small devices. We ask guests to be mindful of energy usage and to charge devices during peak sunshine hours when possible.
Do I need to bring a torch/flashlight?
Yes! This is IMPORTANT. Please bring a torch with you as backup lighting for navigating the property after dark, when our lighting is kept atmospheric and minimal to preserve energy and enhance stargazing.
Dining Experience & Food Sourcing
What meal options are available?
Due to our remote location (47km from Essaouira), most guests opt for our half-board dining option:
Half-board supplement: €35 per adult (if booked in advance) Includes a healthy but hearty breakfast and a daily changing three-course dinner created around seasonal, local produce. Half price for children under 12
Should be booked in advance and can be settled upon arrival
Lunch options: Available à la carte, or snacks can be served around the pool and confirmed with us each day
Honesty bar: Available throughout the day for drinks and snacks
Where do you source your ingredients?
We prioritise local, seasonal, and organic ingredients:
- VERY ORGANIC AND FRESH Vegetables from nearby farms and our developing kitchen garden
- Seafood from Essaouira's fishing boats when available
- Traditional Moroccan staples from local producers
- Eggs from free-range sources
- Fruits harvested at peak ripeness
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes, we can accommodate most dietary preferences with adequate advance notice. Vegetarian options are always available, and we can arrange vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free meals with prior notification.
Please inform us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
⚠ Nut Allergies: While we take precautions, we operate from a single kitchen and cannot guarantee a completely nut-free environment. Guests with severe allergies should consider this before booking.
Is alcohol available?
Yes, we offer a selection of beer, wine, and selected spirits. Due to our remote location, pre-ordering of alcoholic beverages is required and can be arranged when booking.
Morocco is a Muslim country with different alcohol customs than Europe, our offerings reflect respectful integration with local culture. Tax on alcoholic beverages in Morocco is high.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
We ask that only food and drink purchased at Bubble on the Beach be consumed on the premises. Due to our eco-system approach and remote location, we cannot offer self-catering facilities.
Water & Electricity Systems
Where does your water come from?
Our water comes from a deep well on the property, supplemented by rainwater harvesting systems. The water is carefully filtered and treated for bathing purposes.
Where does your pool water come from?
Our pool water is slightly salted and sourced from one of our wells on the property. It undergoes careful filtration and treatment to ensure it is safe and suitable for bathing.
Is tap water safe to drink?
We provide separate drinking water in all rooms and with meals. The filtered well and spring water is for bathing only but also suitable for teeth brushing and face washing.
How do you heat water?
Our hot water systems operate independently from our solar electricity generation. We ensure there's always plenty of hot water available for comfortable showers and our traditional hammam.
How reliable is your solar power system?
Our comprehensive solar array with battery storage provides consistent power for essential needs. We've designed our system to accommodate the typical needs of our guests while encouraging a more mindful relationship with energy usage.
